Believe-in-You Money
A values-driven publication exploring economic inequities and wealth-building strategies for Black entrepreneurs, showcasing a refined cover design that draws on the visual language of capital, ownership, and empowerment through subtle texture and symbolism.
Believe-in-You Money explores how long-standing economic inequities and biased financial systems restrict Black entrepreneurs’ access to the capital needed to build lasting wealth. It centers business ownership as a key path to economic mobility, while examining how traditional investment practices often limit Black entrepreneurs instead of creating opportunity. Drawing on research, history, and real-world examples, the work advocates for a more values-driven approach to investing—one built on trust, shared growth, and accountability. It's a guide to educate and call for sustainable support of Black-owned businesses and a broader view of who gets to take part in building wealth.
I worked with Tigi from Yolkworks through multiple rounds of cover iterations, refining both the visual details and overall strategic direction to find the right balance of imagery and symbolism. Ultimately, we landed on acanthus leaves as an elegant motif, subtly echoing the texture and intricacy of currency while elevating the design with sophistication. The addition of gold accents brought in a sense of capital, luxury, and prestige.
